The Miss Capital City/Land of Lincoln Scholarship Organization goes back to 2001 when Erika Harold, who would go on to become not only Miss Illinois, but Miss America, was Miss Land of Lincoln. We have been proud to have had two Miss Land of Lincoln and one Miss Capital City Miss titleholders who have gone on to become Miss Illinois. Two Capital City and one Land of Lincoln Teen titleholders have also gone on to become Miss Illinois’ Teen.

We pride ourselves on preparing our titleholders for Miss Illinois. Our executive director, Rene Shelton, has been involved with the Miss America Organization for over twenty years. The Miss Capital City Organization is very hands on and team oriented. We prepare for state as a team and are very community oriented.

We expect our titleholders to be  mentors, promote the Miss America, Miss Illinois, and Miss Capital City Organizations, to be kind, to work well within the team within our organization and be open to growth, and to promote sisterhood. We take so much joy in getting to know our girls and helping guide them in their Community Service Initiative. It is a privilege for you to consider competing in our competition!
